Every year, the T3/Inside Information Software Survey gives financial advisors an independent, data-driven look at the technology landscape. This year’s survey, released in March 2026, included 2,906 responses across 70 categories and evaluated more than 800 programs.
It's worth noting, as the survey authors point out, that this year's respondent demographics shifted compared to 2025, with a more balanced mix of fee-only and dually-registered firms and a more even distribution of firm sizes, which means year-over-year comparisons reflect a somewhat different audience.
Here are five takeaways from the 2026 T3/Inside Information Software Survey:
1. RightCapital is a "Software All Star" in Financial Planning & Account Aggregation
The T3/Inside Information Software Survey reserves its "Software All Star" designation for solutions that combine strong adoption with an “extraordinary” user satisfaction rating of 8.0 or above on a 10-point scale. It's a distinction that can't be earned with market share alone. Advisors have to love the platform, too.
This year, RightCapital earned "All-Star" status in two categories:
Financial Planning: 8.40 average user rating
Account Aggregation: 8.09 average user rating
2. Financial planning is a three-platform race, with RightCapital leading in ratings
The 2026 survey data notes the Financial Planning category is “a three-solution race for market share leadership.” Here's how the top three stack up:
Platform | 2026 Market Share | 2026 Average User Rating |
|---|---|---|
eMoney | 35.62% | 8.14 |
Envestnet MoneyGuidePro | 24.23% | 7.62 |
RightCapital | 21.37% | 8.40 |
RightCapital's market share grew from 20.68% in 2025 to 21.37% in 2026, continuing a steady, multi-year climb. Among the three market share leaders, RightCapital posted the highest user satisfaction rating at 8.40.
3. Advisors building firms today are choosing RightCapital
Another telling data point in the survey is how financial planning software adoption breaks down by advisor experience level:
Experience Level | RightCapital Market Share | eMoney Market Share | MoneyGuidePro Market Share |
|---|---|---|---|
1-5 years | 35.75% | 30.83% | 15.54% |
Among advisors in their first five years of practice, RightCapital is the most-used financial planning platform, ahead of both eMoney and MoneyGuidePro. RightCapital's intuitive interface, modern design, and competitive pricing make it a natural fit for advisors who are building and scaling their practices.
For advisors who have already established their businesses using another software, it's now easier than ever to switch to RightCapital. Our OCR technology can scan eMoney and MoneyGuide reports to bring information into new or existing client plans. Plus, Smart Import, the new-in-2026 AI-powered tool, reads additional documents such as meeting transcripts and investment statements to identify financial information for inclusion into client plans.
4. RightCapital is a comprehensive planning platform
The 2026 survey results show that RightCapital reaches well beyond a single category. RightCapital modules ranked in the top three for market share in four additional planning categories:
Category | RightCapital Market Share | Rank |
|---|---|---|
Account Aggregation | 11.46% | 2nd |
Social Security Analysis | 13.25% | 3rd |
College Planning | 12.87% | 3rd |
Estate Planning | 10.22% | 3rd |
On top of that, this is the first year RightCapital appeared in the Tax Planning Software category, debuting with a 0.96% market share, likely due to our Tax Analyzer feature. In the Document Management category, respondents wrote in "RightCapital Vault" as a tool they're actively using.
Rather than dealing with additional logins, learning curves, and subscription costs of separate tools, advisors can access all of these capabilities in a single platform.
5. Advisors are actively considering adding RightCapital to their tech stacks
Survey respondents were asked which solutions they're considering adding or switching to. Across categories, RightCapital consistently ranked among the most-considered options within the categories of Social Security Analysis, College Planning, Estate Planning, Tax Planning Software, Account Aggregation, and Financial Planning Software.
For Tax Planning Software, RightCapital ranked second only to category leader Holistiplan among tools advisors are considering, despite the module being brand new to the survey. In College Planning, RightCapital was also the second most-considered tool overall.
