Q1 2026 was all about saving you time. From AI and OCR-powered data entry to streamlined CSV uploads and expanded plan modeling capabilities, this quarter's updates are designed to help financial advisors spend less time on manual tasks and more time delivering great financial plans.

Here's a closer look at how RightCapital's latest financial planning software updates help you work more efficiently.

Cut data entry time by 70% with Smart Import

This quarter, we're thrilled to have introduced Smart Import: A first-of-its-kind offering within financial planning software that transforms the client plan data entry process.

Smart Import leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to:

  • Read data from documents uploaded into RightCapital

  • Identify information relevant to a client's financial plan (such as income, savings, expenses, goals, net worth, and investment account holdings)

  • Translate that information into financial plan inputs

From there, you can review and approve the data before incorporating it into a new or existing financial plan.

Smart Import addresses one of the biggest challenges financial planners face: maintaining accurate and up-to-date information within client plans. Whether you're onboarding a new client or updating an existing plan, spend less time on the manual data entry and more time on the planning that matters to you. Our internal testing shows time savings of 70% or greater compared to manually entering financial plan data.

Migrate financial planning software faster than ever before

Switching financial planning software shouldn't mean hours of manual data re-entry. We also introduced a new offering to support advisors migrating their financial plans from the MoneyGuide platform to RightCapital.

This feature leverages Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to transition key plan data from MoneyGuide reports into RightCapital financial plans. The technology reads a financial plan PDF report generated by MoneyGuide software, identifies the key client and planning data in the report, and automatically translates the data into RightCapital planning inputs for advisors to review and add to a plan. The data supported by this technology includes family information, financial goals, and income.

This follows a similar update from RightCapital in October 2025 to support plan transitions from eMoney. These two OCR-powered offerings make it easy to migrate to RightCapital from your previous provider.

Streamline manual entry of insurance schedules and model portfolios

Save even more time and minimize data entry errors with CSV uploads in new sections of RightCapital. Easily update client’s cash value insurance schedules as well as your own model portfolios with a simple upload. Manual adjustments can still be made after the upload. You can also paste data into the respective areas.

Insurance schedules

When entering an existing insurance policy or proposing the purchase of one, use the “Upload schedule” option within the Quick Fill menu. Review and confirm schedule information before incorporating it as that insurance policy’s illustration.

Model portfolios

When adding or adjusting an existing model portfolio, use “Upload Holdings” from the Add Holdings drop down. Confirm security mapping and allocation percentage before finalizing.

Be more flexible with model portfolios

In addition to the CSV upload capability mentioned above, you can now also choose which model portfolios are shared with your clients by toggling on/off the “Share with Clients” option within the Advisor Portal > Models > Portfolios tab. If toggled off, you can still individually share with clients within their respective plans.

You can now also delete the seven default RightCapital Model Portfolios by hovering over the right side of the model within the list.

Model a new or existing 401(k) loan

Support your clients’ short-term needs and long-term financial goals by modeling a 401(k) loan in a variety of ways. Easily illustrate an existing loan, one taken out now, or one taken at a future date. You can also propose 401k loans.

Customize education strategies more precisely

Better align education savings with each client’s unique timeline by further customizing strategies within the Education > Action Items:

  • Enable education glide path: Automatically shift a 529 plan's allocation from one model to another by selecting the starting and ending allocation as well as a timeframe to end the migration

  • Customize lump sum savings timing: Choose when lump sum savings occur based on a calendar year, the student's age, or immediately

  • Schedule additional 529 savings: Set the default additional annual 529 savings option start and end, based on a calendar year, the student's age, or the start of the first or last college goal
